Purring

Recommended Posts

How we love our girls especially the fuss they make of cabbage and sweetcorn! And the fact that they have wrecked my very nice flower bed (that's what I thought it was, silly me, of course it is their dust bath/worm restaurant). They are very well settled and now seem to be making content little noises a bit like purring - I assume and hope that this is normal?!

I agree soooooooooooooo cute but I have found there are two types of purr, well one of mine has two types . .one being the mmmm contented happy but then there's a more shrill purr which means imminent danger. One of them keeps guard when they're all wing splaying & sun bathing & she purrs shrill when she sees movement beneath the trees or hedge. Its usually the big ginger tom from over the road but they all listen to her & stop relaxing and sit very still until the danger passes. Prrrrrrrrrr I think our chooks are very clever thee chooks!!!

oooh, congratulations - head chook eh :D

its nice when they trust you isnt it :D

one of ours got tangled in a piece of fruit bag netting (dont ask  ) and I was called (so loudly the neighbours came to find me :D ), anyway, I removed netting from the foot by a usually fractious chicken - she was sooo calm in my arms it was unbelievable. I then got a quiet cluck and she went on her way :D
