This is my favourite :

 

It's called Firebird

I want to add a background to it as it looks a bit plain by itself, but I just can't think what

I've tried just plain colours, but not many of them work...

how do you do that?

I use a program called Corel Painter Essentials 4.

Basically, it has many different brush types and it has basically every colour with a mixer and palette too.

It creates water colour, oil, pastel, acrylic, pencil, etc. depending on what you choose ...lots of stuff really

It just like painting...but on a computer

Except you have to use a mouse so I spend ages trying to draw a straight line

 

 

The beak and eye are oil, the body is pastel and the wing is airbrush

 

I like the idea of a sky

Looks great!

Why not try a pale lilac or blue, it will contrast with the orange of the bird and so make it stand out more? (a bit like a sunset sky)

wow, I find it really difficult to do anything decent with a mouse (have you ever tried writing your name using a mouse )
