Hen Watch
My Henrietta does this too, the others don't so much. She comes out of the nestbox and flings bits of Auboise, or leaves or twigs, on her back.
Abbey Road Girl
One of the greatest things about keeping chickens is that they are both very clever/smart and very daft! With brains that can be no larger than a petit pois (small pea brain) they can run rings round us in begging, mewling and other forms of sophisticated emotional warfare. They are also extremely funny and engaging. Having given birth to a mere three children in my lifetime, I would never have thought about tossing a placenta or any other form of celebration onto my back! (Not that I would have been in a condition to be able to do so!)

Patricia W
My two girls actually built a nest in the garden and only abandoned it when the cube arrived. It's made of twigs with some grass thrown in. It finally convinced me they were " birds"! Tricia
