craftyhunnypie
Hi - does anyone have any simple instructions for crocheted squares or flowers? I want to do some whacky scarves & bags. I noticed on a linky Snowy posted about her hexagons - the lady on her blog has some little squares turned into stuff. She also has a flower scarf hanging on a coat hook - also . But I can't find any instructions for either. I thought doing a bit of crochet would be relaxing. If anyone has any easy nice motif instructions - please post them on here. I can do granny square crochet & have already made a cushion cover. I can crochet in the round & do amigurumi. Emma.x
Snowy
Hmm, looking at those little squares, the pattern is: Row 1:Chain 4 and join to make a circle, Row 2: chain 3, 2 trebles into centre circle, 2 chain, 3 trebles into centre, 2 chain, 3 trebles into centre, 2 chain, 3 trebles into centre, 2 chain, slip stitch into the top of the first 3 chains. Row 3: 4 chain; (3 treble, 2 chain, 3 treble) into the next chain space, 1 chain (3 treble, 2 chain, 3 treble) into next space, 1 chain, (3 treble, 2 chain, 3 treble) into next chain space, 1 chain, (3 treble, 2 chain, 2 treble) into next chain space, slip stitch into 3rd chain and fasten off. Give it a try!

A chickychickychick-ENN!!
Snowy talked me through a flower. Snowy has amazing patience. Snowy needs a medal. Took me over three hours!!!

kez
Snowy - I like that link. I use to crochet as a child but haven't done it for over 20 years and couldn't find any good instructions. Think I can possibly do it now
Omletina Kyckling
Snowy was anaesthetised by alcohol I'm wondering if the alcohol was the thing holding A chickychickychick-ENN!! back....her hangover lasted until Monday night, after all....perhaps she was seeing double or something?! craftyhunnypie
Perhaps she was doing trebles where she should have been doing single crochet? Snowy, the instructions for the little squares are spot on - I made 8 of them last night. Very quick & easy to do, I did some plain coloured & some two tone. So how do you do those big flowers that lady has done & joined into a scarf? I can't master the bobble stitch for the hexagons - perhaps if it was wrote in following on terms, instead of scrolling back to where it says bobble stitch - I might get it. I've seen a book 201 motifs, I quite fancy. Emma.x

craftyhunnypie
It is hard at first learning crochet. I learnt from youtube. I kept playing this video over & over & I felt like 'slinging my hook' a few times. My poor hubby had to suffer repeats of 12 double crochets (uk trebles) spoken in an American accent. I was determined though & wouldn't be beaten. I still sometimes do too many stiches in the round on my amigurumi. I prefer squares! I did follow a youtube video to make a heart coaster - that was fun & easy. Good luck, believe me I do know what it is like to learn to crochet. A chickychickychick-ENN!!
The language is too confusing for me. Do two doubles three trebles then a single treble and a single double. It's all ones twos threes. That, and you use the same language in bellringing.

That made me laugh, my brother and dad are bellringers and I hadn't spotted the comparison - I should've I've had to put up with talk of doubles and singles for 20 odd years. Are you a ringer? A chickychickychick-ENN!!
I had a dabble for a while. A lot harder than it looks, but strangely therapeutic!
