Space Chick
My Ex Batts are arriving on Saturday, and I can't get hold of the Ex Batts layers crumbs. If I was to use the layers pellets I have for my girls, could I chop them up finely enough in my food processor? Has anyone tried this before? Or should I just get any layers mash for now? Christian
You could always blitz the pellets in a food processor? Not ideal and messy, but would work for the time being.... Good luck with the new arrivals.

Good luck with the new arrivals. that's what I did for the first couple of weeks, i left them slightly larger each time until the end of the two weeks by which time they were on whole pellets. good luck! pinkmagic
Can you get hold of ordinary layers mash, dosn't have to be the ex batt one. You can blitz pellets in a blender and I did this for a chick that hatched unexpectedly until I could get chick crumb but it is very messy and may not be practical for the amount you will need. My ex batts seemed to eat loads to start with.
pinkmagic
Forgot to say, my ex batts just had normal layers mash to start with and I gradually mixed in pellets until the pellets took over. I also gave them special poultry vitamins in their drinking water to help build them up.
Space Chick
I think I'll do that then, give them a normal layers mash and add in some poultry spice and put some lifeguard in their water. Then once they can be on pellets they can have the ex batts pellets with the rest of the girls. OH wasn't keen on using the food processor with the girls food anyway
sjp
don't use the rolling pin and poly bag method that really is messy no prizes for guessing who tied that when needed some mash in a hurry
