Cinnamon
My eldest has natural blonde hair, but she wants to go BLONDE blonde! At the moment she has some hilights in it (its very long too), which look fine, but I am wondering whether to go for more hilights or an overall bleachy look, like Gwen Stefani. She wants to put some crazy colour in it for Reading Festival next week, so it needs to be lightened for that to take, but I wouldn't want to put a blonde bleach on her hair with the highlights she already has if its going to damage it Any hairdressers out there? She has already bought the dye - A Schwartzkopf platinum, & I think it will look good but its a big step to take....................
laurmurf
ahhh, daughters and their hair. If she has long (and no doubt lovely) hair then going for an all over colour could dry it out (the blond colours can be particularly harsh because of the bleaching agents, can't they?). Highlights would keep the condition of her hair in tip top shape, but i accept it wouldn't be as dramatic (my daughter accuses me of listening to my friend Prudence more than her ) ps - i'm definitely not a hair dresser - my personal look is 'nesting box'
Cinnamon
Thats the thing - she wants the dramatic look I would prefer her to have highlights as it will keep it in better condition as you say, & also it won't be such a 'flat' colour. But she is set on a Gwen Stefani bleach job
craftyhunnypie
Hiya - she would be far better with highlights & maybe some clip in platinum blonde extensions - a good hairdresser would tell her where to buy these or there is ebay. Even though she has long hair - they would just fall in nicely. Just remind her of the ' bad roots' problem she will have a few weeks on. Egluntyne
I'd let her go for it....you are only young once and it will soon grow.
abwsco
As both DD's have had friends whose hair has been damaged so much by home bleaching etc I only let mine get it done at the hairdressers. One friends hair was so bad that it was falling out and breaking about an inch from the roots
Cinnamon
Yes, just had that chat with her. I am very unsure about doing it myself, especially as its so long, so I have made an appointment to see a hairdresser with a view to having either a bleach or highlights - they will chat it through with my daughter. Its everso difficult as my lovely hairdresser & one of my best friends, who has done our hair from year dot, has just decomped to Devon, so I am having to go to somewhere I have never been before too
Couperwife
I would say go for it too I have been many colours, and now I am back natural , and thats only because I cant afford to keep going to the hairdressers and getting it done - and I cant be bothered in dying it myself. we have girls at school that have gone the "gwen stafani blonde" look, and some look fantastic , and some have chosen the wrong shade for their skin so a frip to the hair dresser would probably be in order good luck cathy x
Cinnamon
Just back from the hairdressers She had highlights, but they are chunky & done in slices (apparently ), so they look fantastic & her whole look is much funkier. The hairdresser also chopped the ends of her hair around a bit, & has totally transformed Devon's style. I am beginning to think that my hairdresser leaving may not be a totally bad thing after all. Its so easy to get stuck in a rut, isn't it? Right, now for the pink & blue bits, done by me

Cinnamon
ahhh, daughters and their hair. It's not just girls, my son wants "blond tips" How did the pink and blue go Cinnamon? We are doing it on Wednesday,I have been informed We need to go into town tomorrow as she has a prospective job lined up for the Christmas period, so blue & pink hair is probably not the best idea for that I will post a piccy when its done Just spent an hour dying the other daughters hair black as she is back at school soon & they would put her in the focus room with her hair as it was
craftyhunnypie
It's a shame schools are so strict, because as soon as you start college / uni - you have it all colours! I am having my hair done Wednesday - highlights as usual & cut / trimmed. Not having the purple put back in. I've got to be conservative for the funeral on Friday - but after that..on goes the pink!
