JooJoo, I had the exact same conversation last month as I was having a couple of new tattoos!

 

I'd love my nose done, but he suggests wearing a stud for a few weeks before changing to something more discreet. It's the only thing putting me off!

I met my hubby when I was getting my nose pierced. I had it done at the Ozzfest 98 festival, he was having a couple of piercings in his ear done. They did my nose with a gun, it was fine, but when I was stood back up waiting for future hubby, I fainted

 

My dad was not impressed when he picked me up from from the bus station, and my mum came in and sat on my bed and cried. i think they got used to it in the end. I put a small purple stud in as soon as I could, I used the 'L' shaped ones. I took it out about 5 years ago, but I kind of wish I hadn't now, you can still see where it was.

I am not letting my youngest daughter read this thread.

She is very into piercings, & has a list of what she wants done & when.

I think she is pushing to have her tummy button done for her next birthday

 

She has even applied to the local piercings & tattoos place for her work experience next year

currently have my nose/tummy pierced and my foot tattooed.. I dont think I would have any others though... ooooh I have my ears as well!

I did want my tongue pierced for ages until a friend had hers done many years ago now and it was awful.

I thought it would be nice to play with the bar with my tongue when I was bored..

A friend of ours had her tongue pierced but whenever she was talking to children, she tried to hide it......resulted in some very bizarre pronounications especially with her very broad Welsh accent in the middle of Sussex

 

Never felt any real "must get pierced" vibe except in my ears...may have to get a second hole in each ear for my big birthday though, I wasn't allowed as a teenager & given that I was such a good girl I didn't Not sure what DH's response will be

Right I've got another question please

 

What is the smallest size stem that I could go for? I want a really tiny stud but just wondered what they start at? I'm going to ring around a few places this afternoon and find out who does piercing locally.

From what I've been told you have to start bigger, I dont know if thats anything to do with it being sterile when they put it in until it's healed over..

I believe the stud they piece with is a standard sized stud, I dont think you get a choice of size. one reason I did my own.. not advisable though.

Hey guys, thank you for all of your advice.

Well, I finally got my nose pierced It was a spur of the moment thing and it didn't hurt as much as I thought it would.

I got it done with a gun at my local piercing place, very quick and easy, the gun was brand new (not unwrapped yet) so I'm sure it won't get infected, so long as I keep it clean ect. I know some people say it's a bad idea to get it done with a gun ect, but I had a chat with the lady and she said it was perfectly fine, that's how they've been piercing for the last 20 yrs and they've never had a problem.

 

I'm really pleased I've finally got it done as I've wanted it for ages. Thanks again for all the advice!

How big is the stud that you have? I had to have one of those huge gold ones before you had a choice

Hey guys, the stud is a gold ball, I didn't really want that one but that's all they had left , I could have waited til Saturday for the new delivery, but I knew I would have bottled it by then!

I can change it in about four weeks, so I'm really excited about being able to pick my own stud.

I'll try and get a pic up a bit later, so you can see for your self.

Well I've done mine too Just got home. Managed to get through the whole "needle" ordeal without passing out, though I think I may have gone a bit pale as she asked me a few times if I was ok

 

Mine was done with a needle rather than the gun which I would have preferred as it's over and done with in one go. Hey ho it's all done now, though throbbing slightly I've got a 1.2mm dark blue stud - very pretty and I'm really pleased with it.

Just a question, how is your stud fitted? I wanted an 'L' shape one, but the lady didn't want to use that with my first piercing, as they can be difficult to fit. I just have a stud straight through my nostrel, with no back. I'm slightly concerned that it may fall out, although the lady assured me it wont. How was yours done?

It stung and I shouted "ow" at one point when the needle went in I think the pain is less with a gun (which is what I would have preferred) rather than a needle and then putting the stud in after but it wasn't too bad - I'm just not good with needles at all so feeling very pleased with myself for not passing out. The funny thing was the woman who did it said she's got 20+ piercings but has developed a phobia of needles since she's got older.

 

My stud isn't straight, it's got like a curl on it so it can't fall out and I've got to leave it in for 10 weeks and bathe it with salt water every day.
