Nose Piercings.

Recommended Posts

Hi all, I really want my nose pierced, but I am such a wimp when it comes to needles. I only want a small stud, not a ring. I've looked on the internet and you can either get it done with a needle *shudder* or a gun, which sounds fine to me. However, there was a lot of people saying that you shouldn't get it done with a gun because it's not as hygienic as a needle, plus it can shatter your nose cartilage :anxious:. Now I'm not sure what to do, as I could easily cope with a gun, as that's what I got my ears pierced with and it was really quick and pain free.

Has anyone ever had their nose pierced with a needle or gun? Did it hurt?

Thanks everyone.

I pierced my own nose with a sterilised needle.. although I know others who have had theirs pieced with the gun methos.. I think as long as it's a qualified/reputable piercer you should be fine with either method.

I love my nose piecing and have a small little stud in that people hardly notice is there.

Family forum everyone!!! But I have wondered! It could be her chest or erm lower

I've got my nose done. I've had it pierced a few times because of my work, I used to have to remove it. I then used to forget to put it back in. Each time has been with a gun..one stupid place put the butterfly back on the stud too. It was murder to remove. Most places pierce it with a gun & the stud, then will put a proper nose stud in for you. It's best to have titanium at first for a few weeks - after you can wear whatever. I currently have a tiny diamond. I also have some beautiful Indian gold ones from my wedding day.

Cathy - most people accept nose piercings these days. You could just wear a tiny discreet diamond like mine.

I had my nose pierced using a gun and it was fine, just really makes your eyes water! I used to wear a really tiny stud with the curly stems for work. I swapped it for a small ring for going out.

I lost mine after a bad dose of flu and repetitive nose blowing. I haven't bothered since.

I have other piercings using a needle and I don't think I'd bother to go through all that fuss for a nose piercing, the gun was quick and easy.

yes I agree, the L shaped one do tend to get caught and whip out, especially if they have a claw setting holding the stone/diamond in place.

the ball ended type are brilliant and I have stocked up on a few since finding them.. not that I have lost any

mine is the sort with the short stem and ball on end to prevent in coming out, hence I dont lose them and I dont have to remove to blow my nose... although before I found this sort I lost lots and lots in bed..:lol:

That is what I have 8) I have had this particular one for years :D

I had my nose pierced while sitting on the steps of the Brixton Academy by a friend of a friend with her gun  I know not the best way  It did make my eyes water :lol:

Is it right that with the ball ended ones you have to put them in from the inside out? That puts me off a bit - I've been toying with the idea of having a very tiny nose study for ages and as I can't make my mind up about another tattoo I'm veering this way :D

A couple of questions - How thin are the stems? eg is the hole very visible when they aren't in (not that I would be taking it out much) but just wondered and where do you all buy the studs from - probably a very silly question but I've never seen them in jewellers or shops around town.

I had mine pierced with a gun by a woman who was shut down the following week for not having a licence!

I don't wear a stud anymore. I re-pierced it once myself with a needle which was actually better than the original experience. I told the woman to let me know when she was going to do it, I'd already explained that I had 10 piercings and wasn't frightened. She said she would do it on the count of three but fired the gun on the count of two  which of course made me jump and the stem of the stud stuck in the centre bit of my nose. Plenty of blood!

no my nose stud with the ball end is put in from the outside.. ;)

my piercing hole is noticable when a stud is not in IMO but not greatly so that it stands out. I feel lost without it though and even made them tape my nose when I had an operation recently rather than take it out. I did look rather daft with a piece of tape on my nose though..:lol::lol:

I had my nose pierced 20 years ago, much to the disgust of my father who refused to speak to me or leave the house with me for weeks (even missed out on a family holiday because I refused to take it out!). Had no problems until I had to remove it when I started teaching, only wearing it at the weekends. Eventually gave up on it and hole closed up, but have still kept my favourite studs as I would love to have my nose pierced again.
