+++eggstatic+++
After extensively researching the possibility of having chickens, we have finally decided to go for the . This will be my 40th birthday pressie from my lovely family, so I am very excited. We have a long way to go yet as hubby has said he is going to build a WIR instead of purchasing the run. We are looking at getting 5 chicks but sadly I have to wait until January (My official birthday). I know that this will be a very long and difficult wait, but hey, after reading this forum, it is all going to be worth it!!! Will keep updating, but any advice, comments, ideas or info will be greatly recieved.

missdiane
Why do you need to wait so long? Why don't you aim for your first egg on your birthday... then you can get the chicks 4 months before, which is, um.......Now
Ms Tilytinkle
Welcome Newbie saying hello and looking for advice Well, here's some golden valuable considerations ... 1) Advise hubby January is a dreadful month to commence keeping chickens (too much rain & snow) 2) Advise hubby Spetember is fab month to commence keeping chickens. ( glorious sunshine) 3) Re-Design walk in run with many luxurious complicated extra's - just incase he tires half way through - means you'll get what you originally designed!! 4) Advise hubby if he gets his finger out the walk in run can easily be erected by September which mean the local breeders, who you think have their P.O.L. sale, will be perfect timing for purchasing the best chickens ate the best prices. 5) Advise hubby once you have chickens, its remarkable, but you will become far more domesticated, with tasty meals always on time, housework & gardening become a joyous hobby, even sharing romantic sunrise rendezvous coffees & sundown tipples. Your dress sense improves greatly, so sexy . . looking soooo especially delightful at dawn. 6) Advise hubby life really does begin at 40yrs, especially when you will have many eggs to cook your birthday cake with etc (which means 'Point Of Lay' girlies need purchasing er .. in September) 7) Advise hubby his sense of humour & patience will greatly improve & increase. Advise hubby & family to buy his own laptop (optional but maybe advisable - employ a cook, cleaner & nanny) 9) Advise hubby he best get used to thinking; he really doesnt know you at all. beulah59
I've only been waiting three months and it's exhausting ... you do nothing but think chicken ... and now the time is approaching, I'm getting really nervous. It would have been better to simply make a decision then carry it out ...

Hen Watch
Welcome to the forum. What a fab birthday idea. My big Four Oh was this year and chickens would have been a great pressie. My advice is to do what you are already doing, read the forum. I picked up so many hints and tips reading this forum whilst waiting for my 4 week delivery of eglu and chooks. Do ask anything at all. +++eggstatic+++
I am still working in him and hoping he will give in to my constant talk of chickens!!!!! Once he starts the WIR (which I have told him needs to be very soon, before the weather changes !!!!!) he may relent and deliver early !!!! There is hope
