What to do if a chicken is stung by a bee or a wasp??

Recommended Posts

First off, I honestly think this is profoundly unlikely. More likely with a wasp than a bee, too. I've never ahd to do this.... but I guess you would need to treat in the same way as you would any person/animal!

The big practical difference is that wasps can pull the sting back out of their victim, whereas bees can't.

So, if a chicken were to be stung by a bee, you would want to s"Ooops, word censored!"e the sting out, (if you squeeze it then you squeeze all the venom from the sting into the victim, and the sting contracts kind of like a muscle, so the longer you leave it in the more venom would go in).

Otherwise, I'd give the chicken a bit of grape, or maybe corn or mealworm to cheer her up!

hey

the only experience i've had with bees and the like was when one of mine swallowed one and it stung her throat . That was a barely stop to put her in a box on the way to the vet because she couldn't breath but she did thankfully survive, though probably wouldn't if we hadn't bundled her down the vets as quickly as we did.

Pretty sure my girl has been stung by a wasp - she has a massive swelling on her wattle. Shes on her last legs, cant eat cant drink, shes got no energy. We’ve been bathing the swelling in salt water and feeding her some kind of special vinegar water mix. Any other suggestions?! Don’t think she has long left :(

My rooster was just stung by a red wasp on Christmas morning. The wasp decided to go into his little coop where he scared and stung my rooster. I have a little 1 pound ginger bearded rooster. My bird was on the grown flipping around like what you would see in vertigo. I brought him inside for the night where I thought he could rest warmly and without stress. I have seen ducks get stung and act drunk for a few days and turn out just fine, so I wasn't worried. Next morning my rooster didn't crow, he flopped to one side and that's all he could do. Upon further investigation, he had lost all movement in his leg, it just hung there. Then I noticed a tick that turned into seizures by that afternoon. I'm afraid he could not survive it even though I was able to get food and water in him. Hope this helps anyone.
