They've sold hard boiled eggs on the continent for years, admittedly with their shells on.

We used to go to Switzerland regularly to visit my husband's grandmother and there you could get 'Picnic Eggs'. They would come in clear plastic boxes of six and the egg shells would be dyed bright pink - so you wouldn't get them mixed up with the fresh ones.

They were very handy when we were on holiday for making sandwiches, or as part of a picnic - as it said on the box!

But it would not be our girls eggs then. I would not even contemplate buying these as they are probably very expensive. Prefer to know its our eggs.
