Having spent the last couple of weeks battling Red Mite in the Hen House, a Tree has come down this evening and demolished it! Luckily all 5 Girls are alright, and the part of the house they sleep in and the nesting box were saved, thank goodness. So after all that hard work we will have to buy a new one anyway

Thanks for your kind words all. It would have to be a VERY robust new house to withstand a great old Sycamore tree coming through it's roof! Hope the Girls aren't feeling too shocked and will be ok

It was just this evening for a short while, it was like a mini hurricane hit us for about 15 minutes, terrible winds and rain and then it all calmed down. I hope it stays calm as I'm a little worried about how secure the remaining part of the house is, although we have made it as secure as possible. Fences are down, and the garden is now full of tree. Tree man unable to come until Tues as it's a Bank Holiday, the tree had a preservation order on it, there are open fields behind us so the wind does whipp up down there at the best of times, what a to do

Can you bring your girls inside either the house or garage in a cardboard box for the night? I'd be worried that Foxy Loxy was on the prowl for an easy meal
