Am I right in thinking the mark one is smaller?

Is it physically smaller, and how else does it differ?

current ebay bid only £50 but reserve not met, if cheap enough is it worth getting for a spare?

I think it is a bit smaller but a recent thread indicated not by much

 

The roosting bars come in sections

 

Part of the floor under the tray is weldmesh (very thick and strong though)

 

The door is smaller

 

The egg port is smaller and rounder

 

The run fits on the same way and is the same size I think

 

I would get a mark 1 for a spare yes.

It is smaller, and some of the very early ones don't have the rodent proof mesh underneath.

 

The poo tray doesn't have the clip to hold it in place either - just a couple of notches that slip into some indentations.

 

They are fine as back up. Or if you just have a couple of chickens or a few bantams.

My mark 1 has a clip on the poo tray. It is on top of the tray as opposed to underneath on the mark 2.

It's not actually advertised as a Mk1 though is it Sandy, only bods who know what the differences are or are very familiar with the Mk2 would be able to tell the difference from the pic.

I can use cat baskets & dog crates as I have been, and I am picking another Eglu up for my 2 babies from a fellow Omleteer next week.

I do wish circumstances weren't such that my 8 would sleep 3 to an Eglu they do but in the wrong places at wrong times!(due to illness & disabilities and plain nasty selfish chicken refusing to let an itsee cutie newbie in an Eglu.(rather sleep as Billy no mates!)

I have ample accomodation for them at the moment with the cube for the older girls and the home made house from hubby for the younger girls
