Omlet cube and run

my friend has given me a gift of wool from New Zealand

 

she went on her honeymoon and had a wonderful time (im not jealous much )

 

anyway, ive got 200g of double knitting Natural wool, its a huge ball and approximately 434m/475 yards worth

 

so come on, what shall I do with it?

 

I dont want to do something boring like a scarf (I have hundreds ) but I dont know what to make

 

I want to make something special that she sees me use and I can say "oh this old thing , I made it with the wool you bought me back from your honeymoon "

 

any suggestions??

How about making some wrist warmers or a nice cabled bag or something?

ooh a cabled bag is an idea

 

do you know if I could felt a cabled bag? I quite fancy felting it too , it should last a bit longer

 

the wristwarmers could match with the same cable

Crochet blanket? Cabled beret style hat? Slipper sock type thingys? I would make a nice matching set of hat, scarf, gloves & bag.How lovely & what a wonderful prezzie!

You could give it a go! I think it would look good! Have a look at the Lion Brand Yarn website for patterns.

 

A good tip to stop knitted bags/handle from stretching is to line them with fabric.

Yes good tip ubereglu! Lining the bag with some nice cotton fabric & you can use some wide ribbon sewn onto the bag of the handle. Stops the bag ending up near your knees!
