eggregiousness
Now that I have my two 14 week old Cochins I am hankering for some more.....I would like to add one more large fowl or two bantams. Do I want a Cream Legabar? an Araucana? Partridge Pekins? and I LOVE the look of frizzle Polands but where on earth can you get them? Is it better to add to my "flock" while Patsy and Eddy are very young or should I wait till the spring? All advice gratefully appreciated! Space Chick
I would say now, and get girls that are the same size or age, but you will still need to manage the introductions. As Cochins are big girls, I would say to go for large fowl rather than Bantams. Are you going to wait until after your OH comes home though Edited to say, I strongly recommend Cream Legbars, mine is beautiful, also hybrids may be a good idea to have more consistent layers, my hybrids are super entertaining and lay their socks off Edited September 20, 2009 by Guest

Are you going to wait until after your OH comes home though I would love a blue egg layer - not that I'm bored with cream eggs yet - not having had any at all! Husband is due home two weeks today.....don't know what to do.....

Falkor
CLB are very pretty....mine is mad as a box of frogs mind.......shy and flighty in a harrier jump jet stylee but she isn`t laying yet so she might calm down in the future Have you considered Hybrids? May be easier (and cheaper) to get hold of............Cochins go broody and I think CLB will stop laying over winter so maybe a steady supply of eggs from a hybrid might soften the blow to hubby The Skyline hybrid has a 90% (maybe a bit less) chance of laying I have two hybrids and they are very consistant in the laying department I have pekins too........full of character and fiesty little madams but again can go broody and quite small compared to you cochins is they are LF. eggregiousness
Anyone know the difference in personality and eggs between Cream Legbars and Araucanas?
Space Chick
I don't know about personality, but a CLB will lay a sky blue egg where was Araucanas eggs are darker and can be blue or green I believe. I agree with Em (Palmer07) about CLB being flighty, although my Leela has calmed down a bit since she started laying

eggregiousness
I didn't understand about chickens being addictive (or should that be "additive"?). Now I do! Why do they make so many types? It's like being let loose in a sweetie shop!
