LottieR
We are going away for the weekend tomorrow and we were going to put the chickens into the local cattery, but they can't take them without us providing the run until next month. We have got an eglu but have built a wir so don't have the omlet run to go with it. So the plan is to leave the chickens at home and get a friend to come in on Saturday to make sure they are ok. I'm sure they will be ok and I am just being silly, but I am a little bit worried about them. Ophelia likes to be shut in at night, the other two put themselves to bed but she paces up and down until you go and shut her in.
chick wiggle
So long as your friend knows about Ophelia then they should be fine. I know exactly how you feel though cos we left ours for the 1st time last weekend and i was soo worried about them. Enjoy your weekend, they're tougher than we give them credit for,
Ain't Nobody Here
I'm sure they'll be absolutely fine . You may find Ophelia learns how to go to bed on her own .
Space Chick
They will be fine It is scary leaving them for the first time, I appreciate completely where you are coming from. Since I have had my girls I have only been on 2 night away breaks. I go away for 10 days at Christmas and am starting to worry (even though I have fabulous in laws that look after them and the dog and cat perfectly). dippy bird
last time I went away,my mum looked after mine - I was worried sick! I had nightmares about them! When I got back, they had started laying and were my mums new best friends!! I'm sure yours will be fine and probably end up being spoiled rotten like mine were! LottieR
Thanks everyone, I have just had my friend around to show her everything. Last night we left the eglu door open and Ophelia put herself to bed eventually so I think they will be ok.
cluckingmad
Hi Charlotte, They'll be fine, we're all the same where our girls are concerned Remember leaving my two cats alone when I first got them - they sulked with me for days after! Came home after leaving the chooks alone for a couple of days and they all ran over to tell me what they'd been up to - Mum and Dad thought they were wonderful!
