My almost permanently broody hen Princessa is sitting on an egg as we speak  pray's it will be a hen. Due to hatch a week tomorrow. This time she has taken herself off under a vine agaist a wall and I leave food and water right next to her. She comes off her nest every couple of days and does he poos and dust bathes has a good shake about and comes to me for a little hug and off she goes back again. Last time she hatched two chicks in the nest box of the shed, and after 48hrs she brought them out and took them under a bush at night, after three weeks she took them to roost with her in the trees. Fasinating stuff watching hens. :D We have a vacant shed to rent. We got that all wrong  Have a good weekend everyone. Thanks for your patience. Dis you get your ex batts today Dippy?

If any one can tell me the different breads of my hens I would be grateful. They have come from a type of farm where all kinds of hens and cockerels have been left to get on with it (So to Speak) a real mish mash. One of my hens has a tuft of feathers on her head and an aubergine coloured comb. Some photo's to come of her. If any of you are ever in the south of Tenerife "The Camel Park " just outside Los Cristianos is worth a visit even if it's just to see the hens, there are hundreds of them free on the 48,000 square meter finca. Hens with chicks, teenagers, cockerels of all ages size and colour. Amazing! just milling around with ducks, camels, moorhens, donkeys, goats, etc: nothing is tethered. :D

It must be so sad at first when they are such a mess. i would be crying all the way home I know I would. How long will it take for you to get them back to full health and laying again do you think. I so admire you for coming to the aid of these poor undervalued birds. Will you take before and after pics? :( You will get your reward by seeing them improve day by day. When you get your farm in provence you can have dozens of chickens.
