Maggie is a monkey for getting in and she always jumps on the sofa! No big deal though as it's old and scruffy- we don't let them go anywhere else in the house though! Judy came in the other Sunday and nicked the yorkshire pudding off my mum's Sunday roast!:lol: She obviously knew that it was her eggs that had gone into making it and was just making sure I was putting them to good use after all her hard work laying them! :)

I used to live near macclesfield when I was married to my first husband. We lived in Bramhall my eldest daughter bought her first house in macclesfield. I wish I had known how great hens were then. I have just seen mine fly up into the trees, most of them except three go in the same tree. I can't tell you what a joy it is not to have them go in a shed. We built them a shed  automatic pop hole nest box on the side. Taught them to go in and they did use to. Then we reared a little black chick abandoned by its mum. When she came out of her little pen she just flew up into a tree at night, and the others followed one by one. Now they all roost in the trees.

I wish I didn't live here! It's getting rough, but at least I live out of the town area.If I had my way, I would be living in the country surrounded by chickens, pigs and goats, I can only dream though, one day maybe, and even then it would be in Provence - oh deep sigh...:pray:

But at least I have my gorgeous girlies and hopefully a few more coming next week.My kids keep telling me I should be on a farm!:lol::lol:

Your chickens sound like they are living the life. :D

:D There are none  as far as we know. Our land is walled. Cats come through sometimes but the hens are not afraid of them. a dog did get in one day when a builder we had working at the house left a gate open. The hens scattered and the dog got my cockerel by the tail feathers and stripped them all. Poor thing was very scared and lay down and played dead, which was very clever I thought. He did look funny without his plumage, it soon grew back though. Not an experience I want repeated. I really thought he was dead then he got up and went looking for his first lady and found her hiding under a bush, they stayed in there for ages while he recovered his dignity. Sorry if I'm babbling on.

Our girls are already getting a bit cheeky and trying to gain entry to the kitchen! We have an unused catflap and Pandora is always tapping on it with her beak if I`m in the kitchen . I have told them- No chickens in the kitchen unless they`re in the oven :talk2hand: . But its only a matter of time, I know they dont believe me,lol :liar:

Hi there chicken lovers. just a quick one to tell you that I have put the photo thing in the hands of my daughter Amanda who is a very clever little chicken PP she will post the piccs tomorrow when she has time. I hope you like the look of "Hen Heaven"

I have a new computer and all the files are a mistery to me, the one I wanted I can't get into but I could attach to an email and that was about it. So I have sent them to her email and she will do the business. the challenge now is to get a picture of them all going to roost, maybe my husband could make a video!

Watch this space!
