debbietabby
Dear all, for the last 2 days I've found an egg in the eglu when I let the girls out of a morning. That's about 7am - but the eggs are cool so they've been laid a while before. They've never laid eggs at night before - does anyone else have chickens that do the same? Is it something to do with the shorter days? Or is one of mine just weird.....
Space Chick
I think my latest egg has been about 6pm.
beulah59
I've noticed mine are laying earlier as the days get shorter ... only even once an egg before breakfast (theirs) though!
Plum
Mine used to lay at 6am. It doesn't get long to get cold.
Ruskie
For the last month or so we've always found an egg from Ginger when we've opened the Eglu door around 6.45. Sometimes a little bit warm but often quite cool. She just seems now to have sttled on early morning as her time to lay whereas Peper is usually mid to late morning. Porkypie
The shorter days seemed to trigger mine to lay earlier and earlier until they were laying at ~6am. Bad news as egg laying in our garden = very noisey brown hen! Went on hols for two weeks and returned to later laying ~7.30-8am. Wonderful for the noise situation and my stress levels
debbietabby
How odd. But very glad to hear that all chickens are just weird and wonderful... debbie
poachedegg
I've found that ours are starting to lay a little later, the darker it is!
dippy bird
mine too, Judy would lay at about 4.30, but they all lay fairly early in the morning now - and for the last week, I have had 3 eggs every day!! Not sure if that has anything to do with the poultry spice? Pus, none of mine are moulting which may be a help?
clucky chicken
Mine lay at all sorts of times of the day but as I'm out all day - I don't actually know specifically when - but when I get home at 4pm there's usually two that are cold - but then I seem to get a third at about 6pm - but not everyday - sometimes the last one doesn't get laid at all??? Should they have a routine so that they lay at the same time every day? We seem not to have any routine at all!!
