Chickendoodle
As the firework season will shortly be starting in earnest I thought I would tell you how we helped our dog. He would bark and bark at the slightest firework sound which meant he was barking for weeks on end!!!!. He was also very scared. I bought a CD 2 years ago which is for pets and it basically is a CD of fireworks which you initially play quietly in the background (while the TV is on) and then you gradually increase the volume until you are playing it quite loud. The idea is to increase the volume so gradually that the dog doesn't react at all. If he starts to react then it is too loud and you turn it down and start again. You do need to do this quite a few weeks before bonfire night. We shall start putting our CD on again soon - it is pretty annoying having firework noises in the background night after night but better than having a terrified dog come firework night (which seems to go on for about 3 weeks!) I think there are quite a few different CD's around now - there is one on Amazon. Hope this helps someone
Space Chick
I have got the DAP (Dog Appeasing Pheromone) collar from the vets for Henry for the past few years, I put it on him about a week or so before, and it lasts for a month. It really helps him
The Dogmother
Luckily Ruby isn't too bothered by them.
