Hi there

 

Just wondered if anyone has tips on how to amuse hens, now they are in their run all day. Is there such thing as chicken toys?

 

They just want to come out and don't seem happy.

Try hanging up a raw cabbage, or a dogs treat ball filled with mixed corn?

Corn on the cob? A dog treat ball filled with something they like? A seed bell?

Having the same problem - in fact all week-end is currently being dedicated to making the run more interesting for the girls! Thinking of attaching some old CD's to a coathanger and having it as a mobile forthem to peck at, cabbages hanging around the place and putting some perches in for them too

Sprout stalks have kept ours amused this week, also peckabloks. We also sometimes use the square fat ball cages and stuff them with cauliflower leaves, celery, lettuce, cucumber (basically any spares or leftovers in the fridge) and hang them from a bungee from the top of the cube run.

 

After the pumpkin thread, have also bought a massive one which I'll put in tomorrow - its quite fun trying to think of things to amuse them!

 

We also have an IKEA shoe rack, a couple of broom handles and a log for them to perch on.

 

Bowls of pellet porridge keep them busy for a while too.

has anyone else noticed how we're all really concerned about our chooks, but not one person expresses any concern about their kids gettign bored...
