Chickendoodle
Did anyone else see the incredible documentary last night? It was about a TV presenter & model, Katie Piper, who had acid thrown in her face as a revenge attack arranged by her ex boyfriend. It was so moving, not at all self pitying and her courage was just amazing. She has such a bubbly personality that by the end of the programme I found that I was not really seeing her scarred face any more. It takes a lot to move me but I found myself reaching for the tissues quite a lot. I think that she will go on to be another Simon Weston, the Faulklands veteran, who will do a lot to promote acceptance of disfigurement. If you haven't seen it I urge you to watch it on the Channel 4 play again thingy. It won't depress you, it will uplift you.
Old Speckled Hen
I saw the trailer for this and thought it would be disturbing. I hate the portrayal of such senseless violence against women on tele. Both CSI and Waking the Dead, which I love, are going horribly down this route with increasing detail. I appreciate this programme was different but it still gave me an uneasy feeling. However, your advice seems eminently reassuring so I will watch it. Thanks Chickendoodle Ahhhhhh it's not on catch-up. Is the episode on Sunday More-4 a repeat do you think?
Chickendoodle
It was a one off so if it has the same title it must be the same one.
Lozmk1
truly inspirational girl and i wish her all the best, even after the horrific attack she was a beautiful young woman, she showed such courage, it must be incredibly difficult to come to terms with something like that but she seemed to have coped marvellously with the support of her family and friends
alih
I heard her and her mum interviewed on Radio 4 and was deeply moved and impressed by them both. Would be good for older teens to hear about as well as antidote to the obsession with looks..
riane
I also found the programme very moving. It put the few moans and groans I have into perspective. She is so brave

Couperwife
I watched this too, what an amazing girl. I kept having to "busy" myself so I didnt sniffle the "attackers" got 1 and 2 life sentences, and she seemed surprised did she really think that they would get away with it they deserved every second her party at the end was touching too the whole family were amazing cathy x
Chucky Mama
It was very moving. What a truly evil person the boyfriend was and how he managed to find a suitably mindless idiot to carry out the attack is beyond me. What an incredible family and how amazing her recovery thanks to the star of a surgeon. What it didn't show was the huge lows that she must have gone through and still must. A truly life changing experience. I hope that one day she can go out with her head high again.
Omletina Kyckling
the "attackers" got 1 and 2 life sentences, and she seemed surprised did she really think that they would get away with it they deserved every second x Yes, but they also said that the sentences would effectively be 16 and 12 years, I think. Since when was 16 years equivalent to two lives? That poor girl is serving a real life sentence - life should be life, in my opinion. She was such a brave, inspiring girl, though...... I agree, what's happened to the days of life meaning at least 25 years? Those men don't ever deserve a day of freedom, why should they?
