Sewing machine advice please

Recommended Posts

Ok you lovely 'crafty' people. I need some help.

My mum is getting by using my great aunts hand-me-down singer sewing machine ever since her old machine finally died. (think wooden base, hand wound mechanism, black and brass etc)

So we'd like to get her a new machine. She doesn't want anything too fancy or complicated, just able to go back and forth, zig zag etc. No PHD required to work out the manual either! LOL

So...

Do any of you have any recommendations? Singer and Brother I have heard of, what other makes are good/not too expensive/not too complicated? Where would I get one?

Thanks guys

I have a brother machine and I have had no problems with it, it's simple to work nothing complicated. Only downside of mine is that it doesn't have a hard case, only a flimsy one, but thats the only downside I can think of.

Em (palmer07) has used it a lot maybe she can add more... I haven't used it in a while now.
