Jools
By pair, I assume you mean male and female. It would depend very much on their quality (comparison to the breed standard), if they were a breeding pair (not related), their age and if they were a breed I wanted to keep. Patricia W
There seems to be local differences - how easy it is to find them and how much you want them. Why don't you look on the Omlet market place? Go to Breeds and take it from there. Tricia

tom123
Hope this helps... A pair of buff japanese bantams - £30-35 A pair of brown leghorns - £30 A pair of silver laced wyandotte bantam - £25 A pair of black and white pekin - £20 This is what I would pay if they were pet quality and I was looking to have them as pets ant to sell a few H/E but not to breed them properly. Hope that is of some help Tom
Redwing
I'd say that Tom is spot on with what I would pay for true to type but not show quality birds Your £40 is reasonably expensive if its a boy/girl pair. If your 'pair' are two females then £40 is not bad I personally see a cockerel as worth about a third or less of what I would pay for a pullet so for example wth the Pekins I would pay £15 for a girl but only £5 for the boy thats as part of a pair - if I was buying a cockerel on its own I would pay very little indeed Havent you already got a cockerel or two? if so and you did buy a pair of Leghorns be aware that the boys will fight so its not recommended to mix them
