Solitary chicken - need advice

This is really dumb but are stalosan and stalosan F the same thing ?

 

When you use it do you need to wear a mask ?

 

Is it harmful to fish?

 

How often do you sprinkle it and does it come with a shaker type thing or do you just use your hands?

 

Garden lime was another thing i know nothing about, do you use it with the stalosan F ?

What does it do- neutralise i guess...

Garden lime is used to "sweeten" ground that chickens have been on for a while. It's a once or twice a year application.

 

Stalosan is used every few days (5-7??) in the house to dry any wet patches and to counter any nasties.

 

I wouldn't use them together, not that I think it would cause harm, but there's no point really.

Yes, it's the same thing . I don't use a mask but it's probably not a good idea to breathe it in. I do try to keep my mouth closed!

 

Don't know about fish!

 

I just use a plastic cup and sprinkle it around. The 8kg box doesn't come with a shaker or anything.

 

Garden lime sweetens the soil and neutralises the acidity (the poop makes it acidic apparently).

I do use them together - I feel they do different things! I only use Stalosan & lime every 2-3 months though.

I use Stalosan (well a generic version) every month when I do my big WIR clean out. I don't wear a mask, and just sprinkle and act like the shake and vac woman

Well, it sounds like a good idea to buy some and maybe i'll sing that shake and vac song to myself when i sprinkle...... thanks everybody xx
