Felt quite bogged down with work today, but one look out the window soon cheered me up, hens are just great! They were fighting over a worm and generally larking about, dodging the showers and having a great time..they always cheer me up!hoorray for hens!

Hear hear! I could watch mine for hours - and frequently do! Only yesterday my OH said

"how much longer are you going to stand out in the cold just watching them?" I find them endlessly fascinating

I find the same,...just when you think you've had the worst day you could ever imagine - an hour or so of "therapy" out with the girls totally cheers me up. Quite often I will go out after a stressful day of work.

What I like best is when I open the back door all three girls run to greet me as if I am their best friend. In fact they wait at the patio door and tap at the window. I also have a garden seat and table just at the back door and they will perch on the very back of the seat and peer in to the dining room.

 

What is also nice is that often I will grab a coffee and sit on one of the seats in the main garden, particularly after a heavy gardening session and all three girls will jump up onto the seat beside me and roost next to me eyes shut but always just resting against my side. It took my quite by surprise at first considering I have only had them here just over a month. I don't think my old dog was as friendly as that!

I watched one of mine dust bathing in the mud today... Ive never seen that before so i thought it was hilarious!!

We were out trying to clear the leaves today a real chore, our girls & Rhubster followed us around the garden all afternoon, making happy clucking noises & jumping into the heaps of leaves, having a lovely time... Chickens are a real joy.. love them to bits!

aw, your stories are really heart warming! the girls are really lovely and a bit mad, just like all good family members!It's really nice to hear about other hens feel even more better now!!I like it when they hear a noise and come rushing up to the back door for some 'reassurance'! brilliant pets!

I often just say, 'just going to shut the girls in' 5 min job! An hour later Im still sat there cuddling one or the other of them whilst they're snoozing in my arms

Love them to bits.
