debbier
Unfortunately, one of my three hens died last night, so I now have two. They seem happy enough at the moment, and I'm in no rush to get any more, as I want to ensure they are both ok before making any new introductions. I imagine they will be happier with more in the flock, and I do have the space in my wir, so plan on getting two more sometime. The question is, when is best: to wait until spring, or to get a couple sooner? Any ideas?
Chicken Shirl
So Sorry about your hen. RIP little girl. I'm a sooner the better person. I don't think they remember much beyond a day or two. So I'd go for it straight away. They do so much better in a group. Good luck with it all.
debbier
Thanks, we've only had her since June. She hasn't really looked quite right, on and off, for a couple of weeks now, but there wasn't anything obvious and some days she'd be ok. Still, she's not suffering now, and that's the main thing. If anyone knows of any good suppliers near Wolverhampton, then I'd appreciate any recommendations.

debbier
Oh dear, I just looked at the Wernlas pics on the forum and they look so lovely. I'm only about an hour's drive from them... edit: SpaceChick, your website is excellent, and very informative. I feel a day out looming tomorrow! scrambledhead
Sorry to hear about your poor chicken. Like you we had three and lost one. Get two more soon, we got ours today as we were concerned we might end up with one poor girl on her own which I understand makes for a sad lonely chicken! debbier
What did you get? Keep us posted on introductions! I'm planning on using my old eglu run as an introduction method, but what will they sleep in, then? I guess I could use my old dog crate, suitably insulated, for a couple of nights, and see how it goes? My wir is covered, which is just as well with all the rain we are having at the moment. Post us some piccies when you have them. PS I looked on the web sit suggested and they have some lovely birds.

Fur 'n' Feathers
We lost Miso in June, but due to hols had to wait till the end of Sept. They've all just about integrated now. We found it a bit hard going with getting home from in the dark when doing the "sleeping together but not daytime" bit, but apart from that there was no real issue with it being autumn/winter. It's down to your availability on the intros really.
