Ness3103
i had to bumper bit all four of my girls today they've been pulling each others feathers out for a while and the ukadex isn't working, just when the feathers start to grow they pull them out again, so bumper bits are now on. it was easier than i thought although had trouble putting skye's on and was shaking so oh had to take over they have spent the whole day looking sorry for themselves and giving me the evil eye scarlet (top chook) was very withdrawn and looked very depressed i'm hoping they'll be better tomorrow and not hate me too much i'm sure once they've re-feathered and look gorgeous again they'll forgive me
Space Chick
They will take a few days to get used to them, but they will be fine
Chook n Boo Mum
Tough love is always difficult to accept by one side of the equation ..apparently they ignore the BBs after a while & return to being normal happy chooks without pecking/plucking capabilities. Hope it works out ok for you all Sha x
Egluntyne
Well done. They will soon get the hang of them, and hopefully the bits should do the trick.
Chicken Shirl
Oh! Poor you! they do make you feel bad don't they. I'm sure they still think you are a great chicken mummy. You have to be cruel to be kind sometimes, and you can't have them pecking feathers, they will damage each other. Lots of people on here have had to use bumper bits. All will be well in the morning I'm sure. Let us know how they and you are.
Dolly
When we put a bumper bit on Roxy, she stood on her own behind a tree trunk in our garden and quite literally sulked, no-one would believe a chicken could sulk until they've seen it themselves. She kept looking round to check we were still looking at her and feeling guilty, just like a naughty toddler! Don't worry, they'll get used to it and will forgive you, especially after a few treats! Ness3103
well scarlet is still sulky the others seem to have got used to them so i don't feel as bad now they seem to be doing the trick as fluffy knickers are starting to reappear the only thing i'm worried about is ebony's back, the feathers don't seem to be growing back yet and most of her back is completely bald knowing my luck they'll start to grow back just as the bumper bits come off
