craftyhunnypie
Hi - I want to make some choccy slabs for Xmas with bits of marshmallow in, nuts, mini fudge pieces etc. But what sort of chocolate would you buy for melting down? Cooking chocolate is always so naf tasting- especially that yuky scotbloc stuff. Emma.x
Snowy
I think you can get any quality of chocolate. G &B do a cooking chocolate, but it is expensive. If you aren't cooking with it, you just want to melt and reset it, then I would've thought any good quality chocolate would work. I've bought some of those giant blocks of cadbury's for the boys to melt down and pour into moulds to make christmas shapes.
Christian
I use a mixture of G&B's and Cadburys, just melt them together and add the extra bits. G&B's Maya Gold is nice added to milk chocolate......

chickencam
I f you want cheap stuff that tastes ok and have a Morrisons near by they sell value dark chocolate at 26p a bar, they also do a milk and a fruit and nut. It is surprisingly nice and we now use it in all of our chocolate cooking, and OH and ED eat the stuff by the bucket load We have made Nigella's Rocky Road with it and it was yummy. craftyhunnypie
Thanks , I'm going Morrisons today. I thought they would be nice to add to a Xmas hamper. My sister's hamper will be chocolate themed. Mum's on a special diet so mum & dads will have some treats in for dad & knitted items for mum.
