alison
I have bought a bag of ex bat crumb instead of my usual pellets. Can I feed this to my chickens, who are not ex bat, and have never had crumb since they arrived last July? if not, anyone want a large bag of crumb, free for collection! alison
I just filled the feeder, they don't look very impressed!
Chucky Mama
Might they be tempted if you made it into a mash?
chelsea
Yes - non exbatts can eat exbatt feed. My lot have been on the crumb version for some time and love it.
coco
I bought ex batt crumb for my ex batts but all my chickens love it and eat loads of it.
poachedegg
Why not buy a bag of their usual pellets and mix them together?
whoopsie
I had a bag of exbatt crumbs left over and mix it with the layers pellets. My girls seem very happy with this arrangement and I don't think it's a bad thing for them to have during the winter when they'e not free ranging so much. They also love it made into porridge with hot water.
alison
Thank you for the suggestions, I had thought about mixing it in with a new bag of pellets. It just looked so different from pellets. I do make them porridge, with probiotic yoghurt, so will use some crumb for this, I just didn't want to be taking the wrong step! I feed them ex bat pellets anyway, as one or the other is often suffering feather loss, due to big bully Amber star, who can get a bumper bit off in less than 30 seconds! Thank you
