dippy bird
Hi All, well, my Rita is looking really scraggly at the moment - her feathers are falling out left right and center! How long does it take for them to re-feather? She is looking in a worse state than what she was when we rescued her. I have been giving all the girls meal worms, poultry spice in their food and also poultry boost in their water. Is there anything else I can give them to help their feathers(especially Rita's) grow back? It's gonna be freezing here tonight -5 degs apparently, so I am really worried that they'll be cold.
The Dogmother
I wouldn't worry too much, I have two bald birds at the moment and they seem fine. She ought to feather up in about 2 weeks - you're doing everything right.
mostin
you could also give her cod liver oil and limestone flour mixed in with her food, it all helps to speed moult recovery. Good look. My ex-batts were moulting when they came out in May, and now they are doing it again , I was really hoping they wouldn't moult again. I have also been given them nutri-drops made by net-tex when they look really poorly.
Plum
Presumably if you give them some corn in the afternoon the energy helps keep them warm overnight.
The Dogmother
I have also been given them nutri-drops made by net-tex when they look really poorly. I've used those on moulting girls and they work really . I don't bother squirtign it in their beaks though, I just pop a few drops in a wet mash
Seagazer
I was quite surprised by how quickly they feather up. Flo has got all her bald spots covered up now thankfully. I think its been a couple of weeks.
