Cheekychick
I need advice about one of my chickens, Elizabeth, arrived at 16 weeks started laying eggs in November 2008 until April 2009 (when she laid her last egg which was fine). She had started to go broody but I stopped this with a flowerpot in the nest box. The other two chickens still laid their eggs in the next box, but Elizabeth did not go back into the nest box. She seems healthy, eating and wondering around she also free ranges with the other two chickens, 1 pepperpot has just stopped laying ten days ago - probably due to the shorter daylight hours. The other chicken Henrietta is still laying, they were all bought and arrived the same time in September 2008 from Omlet. Thanks
meezers
If you've done all the usual - checking for external parasites, worming ( with flubenvet ) and checking the garden incase she's laying when she's free ranging, then chances are she's decided to take an extended holiday or early retirement. My first 6 all arrived at the same time and were the same age. The Bluebelle hasn't laid for over a year and the Black Rock stopped laying almost 6 months ago- they are the healthiest looking out of all my chooks- no wonder as the lazy madams don't have the strain of laying eggs ! Chickvic
I'm still waiting for Ruby to start again and she stopped in November...2008 I had them in the April, she laid for 6 months and had a moult and never laid again. She's fine, regularly wormed and checked over - just never laid again - she's enjoying her retirement
Cheekychick
Many thanks for replies, it seems as though it is a waiting game. She has been wormed along with the other two chickens.
