Haltonshappyhens
One of my chickens started to loose feathers about 6 weeks ago.. this coincided with all 3 deciding to stop laying.. . Sage (the silver campine) lost lots of feathers but appeared fine in every other way (apart from the lack of eggs!).. Onion (cream legbar) and Paxo (black rock) lost a couple of feathers each but nothing to really notice.. then this week with still not an egg in sight I noticed what appeard to be 'dandruff' all over the place.. what is going on? Has anyone else had this? All three girls are happy - although their poos are a bit strange too... They have organic layers... thanks
Egluntyne
When the new feathers emerge, they are encased in a papery wrapper, and these give a dandruffy appearance when they disintegrate as the feather grow. Perhaps this is what is going on.
