Cure for jet lag?

Recommended Posts

Anyone with tips on how best to get over jet lag? I'm just back from Australia and finding the jet lag a pain - note time of this post! Of necessity, I am straight back to work and finding the " 3pm" dip really hard.

I'm sure there are jet setting Omleteers out there with good advice for me!

I often fly long haul and get the overnight flight back usually arriving at around 5am.

I find the best way to combat jet lag is to revert to UK time as far as possible as soon as you get on the plane (i.e. change your watch immediately and try to sleep and eat on UK time as far as possible) and then continue that when you land. I make myself eat lunch and dinner at the normal times (although I don't have much), drink lots of fluid and then make myself stay up until at least 8.30 pm. Then I really do sleep!

The next day I'm usually tired but stick to routine and then I'm fine.

This works for me but I am quite good at sleeping on planes (I just set my iPod to my 'sleepy' playlist and away I go).

Hope you enjoyed the trip. I'm off to Aus again myself in 8 weeks and can't wait!
