kilravock
Hi. Has anyone seen/tried the rubber pellets advertised as a "mud cure" in certain chicken magazines? The idea is you put a mesh down first then a level of about 4cm of these pellets. I was thinking of using bark chippings as a substrate, but does anyone have any experience of the rubber chips? Our chicks are freerange most of the day but the run is a right royal mud fest at the moment.
The Dogmother
The only people I've known to use these complained that it was next to impossible to wash the poo off them
debbier
Hi, There have been a few discussions on this in the past. If you do a search for rubber chippings you should get some info in threads.
Redwing
Wood chips are better than either bark or rubber
dippy bird
I have rubber chippings down in my run and I have to say, they have been fantastic, really easy to clean - just jet wash them and rake them. The girls feet are much cleaner as well (well until I let them into my garden). Egluntyne
Does the dissolved poo not cause problems underneath the rubber chips?
