Pro - Does anyone else's nest boxes get soaked in rain?

I read somewhere that putting sugar in the drinking water would stop it freezing---has anyone tried this? Would it be bad for the chooks and how much would you have to use?

I would have thought the amount needed would be enormous, after all there are something lke 16 teaspoons of sugar in a can of coke and they freeze no problems

ok so sugar's out....someone on another forum just suggested insulating the top part ofthe water container with bubble wrap----now that sounds like a good idea! will try it tomorrow...
