Pro - Does anyone else's nest boxes get soaked in rain?

We always leave putting up the decorations and buying the tree to the last minute.......

 

Well this year we were more organised last week went and bought a lovely tree from the local Christmas Tree Farm, brought it home and as we were not going to decortate it until I had broken up from school we popped it in a bucket of water at the side of the house.

 

Yesterday we went to bring it into the house, knocked the snow off of it and then found the problem

it is frozen in the bucket

 

Shall I bring it inside in the bucket and wait for it to defrost

 

What do you all think?

Either leave in bucket to defrost if you've got somewhere you can do that or could you poor boiling water over the bucket to dislodge the tree?

Would the boiling water damage the tree, that is if the ice hasn't already.

If you're bringing in indoors I'd maybe put the frozen bucket inside a bigger bucket (or tubtrug?) in case the frozen bucket has cracked . Avoids a soggy carpet .
