Best liner/ bedding for drop tray

hi, ive nearly run out of red mite powder and was wondering if diatom is good/ better? i use red mite powder in the dust bath & in the hens bedding.

Red mite powder is a preventative, Diatom scratches the surface of the mite and dries them out so to me is a treatment also (though there is some debate about treatment v preventatives - I have seen Diatom killing red mite so thats good enough for me!)

I have both. I use red mite powder because it smells so nice!

I use both too - I tend to sprinkle Diatom in their nest boxes and round their perches and put red mite powder directly on the girls so they smell lovely!

I also use both. I do the eglu and bedding with the red mite powder as it smells so good and put diatom on the girls if I see them scratching. Particularly useful at the moment as their usual dustbathing holes in the garden are covered in snow.

If you go for diatom, be sure to wear a face mask when using it as it shouldn't be inhaled.
