smokiechicken1969
My gang have lost so much weight and condition in two to three months its awful. They are feather and bone, i can feel their wish bones and the bone running all the way down between their legs! They are on their last day of flubenvent and for the last week their food has contained pol spice life guard they are fed on a combination of good quality layers pellets and mixed corn. any ideas on what i can give them to get some weight and condition back on them? once they stop the flubenvent they will get the usual run of afternoon treats, sweetcorn, blueberries, mealworms etc. if i change them all on to chick crumb will that help? they are all 'normal' and eating well just totally out of condition!!! any ideas will be gratefully administered. Clur
I tend to give mine tuna (in spring water, not oil or brine) or organic cat food if I think they need a bit of a protein boost. I also put some cod liver oil in with their pellets - you can get the cod liver oil in a lot of pet shops.
sparkysmum
Don't know if it helps but I give mine afternoon carbs - pasta or rice or warm muesli with anything tempting thrown in. Hope they pick up soon Ax

Egluntyne
If you dish up chick crumbs, make sure they are unmedicated. Breeders pellets are a good source of protein too.
smokiechicken1969
Thanks guys. They havent had any treats for a long time so i dont think they could believe their luck today. Flubevent has finished and there was a mad scramble for the tuna and pasta i gave them for tea! Off to get some supplies in the morning including a tub of mealworms. that should put me back in their good books again.
smokiechicken1969
Thanks for all the tips on getting my gang back into shape. I have spent a fortune on 'treats' and have suddenly turned into jamie oliver in the kitchen cooking up pasta and tuna and rice and jumbo oats and warm porridge, with poultry spice for extra taste. all garnished with a tasty topping of meal worms and sweetcorn. my gang are very grateful, so much so that they have started flinging themselves at the back door for more, and if they're down the garden when i go outside they are virtually charging up the path, screaming to see whats next to eat!!! nice to know they apprectiate my cooking and good to know they are all looking back to their old selves. thank you x
