Replacing Onduline Roofing, advice please

Recommended Posts

Have previously posted on here about problems with my roof. It leaks due to 2 lengths being joined up.

We've decided to replace it completely, but don't want to make an expensive mistake, so would be grateful for advice on how to replace & with what. At the mo, the onduline is still up there, with various buckets & containers dotted inside to collect the leaks.

Many thanks.

PS For those that use the ikea shower curtains , how do you attach them to the wood ? I've nailed my in, but this appears a temporary measure because the plastic is gradually tearing.

as Redwing says it sounds like the overlap is to small there should be at least 100mm/4 inch in old money overlap. if you've have that then it could be that the roof pitch is to shallow so the water is running back up the roof in which case the top of the slope needs to be raised but that means stripping the sheets of the adding timber to each of the supports tht the sheets sit on with the exception of the bottom one rejuicing the size at each support about an inch every beam these should be no more than 3 feet apart on a shallow pitched roof for snow loading. then replace the onduline bottom sheet first appling silicone sealant to the overlap first to bed the top sheet on to as an extra precaution the joints needs to be clean and bone dry. if the top of the roof is 4inch/100mm higher than the bottom over 12 feet assuming that 2 six feet sheets have been used then it might just need the joint sealing best way is to take the top sheet off clean and dry the joint apply the silicone refix the sheet
