Laura & CTB
Hmmm- just a thought but could you put a shallow heavy plant pot in there during the day with a bit of straw in, so it fits behind the nest box?
Doodledootoo
What about just dropping a couple of handfuls of extra straw on the roosing bars - towards the back & next to the existing box? I had a broody sat like that a week back and the other hen could still use the nest box.

laurmurf
what about removing the roosting bars altogether and filling the tray with aubiouse or the like. It will turn it into a giant nest box, but it will be harder to clean.
kevtheplumber
Put a pet carrier in the run and put a football in the eglu so they can't use it for a couple of days, they soon get the point, mine use both now
sandyhas3chucks
It is possible to get 2 washing up bowls in the back, I had 3 ex bats all wanted their own (to sleep in) http://i429.photobucket.com/albums/qq11/shehas4chooks/07122008.jpg Edited January 31, 2010 by Guest

Hen Watch
I remember sonebody used a casserole dish on top of the roosting bars - the chooks failed to notice the irony! It was me....... Chooks are threatened that if they don't use it they will end up in it..... no only joking Ceramic oven dish stopped nestbox squabbles last summer, but then after 2 months I didn't need to use it any longer. Put dish in each morning and remove at bedtime. Here it is being used.......
