As it takes me so long to complete crafty things I thought I'd better start now. For the past few years I have had to parade in front of my class on an Easter bonnet parade. Many staff have beautiful hats whereas I always had a paper tat hat. Last year I thought enough is enough so I purchased a posh straw hat. Now what should I decorate it with? Crotched flowers? Ribbons, buttons, eggs, chicks????? Arrrgggghhhh!!! help.

I did something similar for our toddler group easter bonnet parade Ajuff. I had an old posh straw hat and just added crochet flowers, those little yellow fluffy chicks and some pretty polystyrene eggs I was judging though - some of the competitors were much more inventive!

Basic boater hat, then scrunch/roll newspaper into papier mache 'sticks' - they can be messy. Paint them brown (poster paint) and then arrange them nest-style on top of the boater, gluing them down. Fill with eggs (and a couple of cadbury's creme ones to bribe - sorry, IMPRESS the judges:oops: ) et voila!

So far I've got two crotcheted flowers . . I'm going to make loads more for the back of the hat. Buy some ribbon and see what else it lacks!! My only judges are the parents of the kids in my class!!!!
