jellykelly
I contacted Ben yesterday and asked what breeds of bantam he had available. It seems that bantams are few and far between at the moment - I've tried loads of places. Anyway, he has 1 light sussex, 1 dutch bantam and 2 pekins. If there's any recommendations I will hopefully pick them up thursday/friday. So, any good??
Patricia W
I got my pre-loved cube from a lovely lady in Kent who was in raptures about how good Ben was. I come to West Malling from time to time so was going to try to pop in and see for myself. Tricia
Seagazer
My friend got her 2 chickens from there - an Amber and a skyline which gives her lovely blue eggs. I'm sure she'd recommend him as she keeps telling me to get some more from there
Redwing
I've seen several comments on forums recommending Ben, he seems to have a lot of happy customers As for the birds I'd go for the Pekins and the Sussex or the Pekins and the Dutch, I wouldnt mix a Sussex with a Dutch because of the seize difference I know you are keen to get them but if you can hold off longer you will have far more choice
jellykelly
Thanks redwing. I'm trying to sort things out relatively quickly as hubby is trying to put a limit on my 'bird count'. He has allowed 2 as a valentines gift - I heard four Since he's away in Cumbria until march, I thougt I'd get four, settle them in and then say to him "oh my, how did they get there?!" I currently have Henhouse options of the dutch and the pekins (listened to your advice Redwing) or GS bantams where I could get a Maran, Auracana and welsummers? So tricky - but I'm broody and have homes to fill!!
Auntie FiFi
Hi - just thought I'd let you know that I needed to get 4 bantams in early January and I agree, it was very difficult to track them down. However, I do wish that I had waited until Spring - I ended up going to someone in Cantebury, who I didn't have a recommendation for, and it has been a bit of a disaster. I only have 3 now and have had a lot of heart ache and worry, and many trips to our vet with various known and unknown ailments! I don't know about the place in Maidstone but Mumbles Farm in Borough Green do have some bantams apparently and I can really recommend them, having bought four big girls from them 2 years ago, and recently my friend got some there too. Good luck!
