captaincollins
Hi my chickens are getting on great, but I was wondering how to get them back in at night? they have to be put in by myself. anyone got any ideas? thanks Sharon
majorbloodnock
Is it still fairly light when you wander over to put them to bed? Reason I'm asking is that chickens will generally (from my limited experience) take themselves off to the henhouse when they're ready, so long as they recognise it as a safe and comfortable place. ubereglu
What time are you putting them in? How long have you had them? It's good practice to leave your chickens in their house and run set up for at least a week when you get them before allowing them out to free range so they get used to where they should go back to each evening. My chickens currently go in by themselves by about 5:30pm at the minute. Try using a torch, hold it in their house so that they will follow. captaincollins
they jump up on one of the pearches as its getting dark, and if i let them they all row up for the night, so i go in and put them in. I took the pearch out tonight but they still didnt go in, i got them on saturday and havent let them out into the garden yet. I will try the light in the house, sounds a good idea. thanks sharon
Plum
Might be worth putting some perches leading into the house. Perhaps they are not too keen on the ladder.
