chuckmum6
Do Pekins take longer to come into lay than other breeds? I have a 45 wk and 35 wk old hens who are showing no sign of laying. Does anyone know about Pekins as this is the first time I have had this breed?
Redwing
They would normally be in lay by now but would have hit point of lay in the winter when pure breeds take a break so they tagged that on the end thats why you dont have any eggs yet. My Pekins have started to lay in the last few days so hopefully you wont have long to wait
Space Chick
I have an Appenzeller thats nearly a year who is showing no signs of laying. So don't worry, they will get around to it in their own time
tom123
I've got a year old hen who hasn't layed yet either, she will though when it gets warmer(Hopefully!) Pekins eh! Who'd have 'em!
chuckmum6
It is already about a hour or so lighter now each day, so I am hoping that it will be soon What colour eggs do pesky Pekin's lay? I also have a Wyandotte (40 wks) with obscenely red wattles who also isn't laying either!
tom123
They should be a creamy white colour
Pikey
One of mine started laying when snowed back in early January (about 20 weeks) ...she laid 5 eggs and then when the snow stopped she stopped The other one about 24 weeks hasn't laid yet! The eggs were a creamy white
chuckmum6
I now have four girls laying. I think it is Dotty my Wyandotte who has just started, although I haven't completely confirmed this yet, but she has been seen around the nest box. The egg is the same size as my other Wyandotte egg, but where as her's is a pinky colour this is cream. This means that it is just the Pekins yet to lay - I think !
