Unsecure chicken perches

Hello everyone!

 

Our girls (Beryl and Hilda) arrived yesterday. They roamed about in the run all day yesterday and we had a bit of trouble getting Beryl into the Eglu but we managed it by about 8.30pm. Today they wont leave the coop unless we are in the garden and as soon as we go inside they return to the Eglu. I know they are still settling in, but is this normal?

sounds about right they'll settle down in the next week or two then in a month or two it'll be like they've always been there and you'll start thinking about getting a couple more then you're hooked

As soon as I have finished my first post I looked out of the window and they were both out in the run....I can see this chicken keeping lark is going to be fun....

I'll agree there - why do they never, ever scratch the dirt into the border and insist on standing with their bums to the paths and lawn??
