We're back in business yay!!!

Recommended Posts

Soooo chuffed! after feeling a bit fed up due to a rat we had that plagued me for a few weeks  it finally disappeared a couple of weeks ago :) . We had pest control put bait down and it's not come back since. We are going to put down our own permanent bait station at the back of the eglu just in case.

Anyway to get to the point I found two eggs !egg!!egg! in the nestbox today, so Matilda's come through her winter moult and Rosie has laid again after having a couple of weeks off! So it was pancakes tonight!!

I had a bit of a moment where I thought, why I am doing this chicken keeping thing?? there were no positives! but hey I'm glad we hung in there! it's worth it. We've got cuddly girls again now too!! I'm really beginning to feel spring is in the air yay!! So for those of you that are having a bad moment, just hang in there cause you will get your rewards!!

I'm back in love!

Good news that the rat has gone! :D:evil:

I agree it gets to a be depressing; trashed garden; no eggs! But as you say once they start laying again you do feel like spring is here!! :D Although I do worry that poor Korma really only had a week off over christmas and bless her has been laying at least 6 a week! She never really had a full moult unlike Tikka who lost almost every single feather, didn't lay for two months; so she looks great, is well rested and has now started laying - albeit sporadically- about 4 a week.

Having said all the above I'm just :lol::lol: about to sign up for more!!
