Help! How to repel/deter foxes ... ??

Recommended Posts

Fox made off with 2 of my hens Saturday evening. He knows where his next meal is now! How can I deter him from coming back? My chooks are used to free ranging at the bottom of the garden for most of the day. Does anyone recommend Scoot? What about these sonic devices - are they any good?

I use fox watch and have used scoot as well as OH weeing at the bottom of the garden, fingers crossed it has been all quiet, I know there are foxes in the area but so far none here.

Sorry about your girls but I know what you mean about letting them FR, it is a choice you have to make

Electric fence/very close supervision (like they need to be in sight - I've been on one side of a large shrub before now, girls and boy on the other with the fox. Broad daylight). Its the only way to go I'm afraid. If you don't do that you are trusting to luck, which is fine if you're willing to take the risk, but as you've found out there is a lot of heartache involved when it doesn't work out.
