Raina
Hi all, I bought a big box of Grass seeds from wilkos the other day for the tortoises & chickens Is it OK just to put the seeds straight into the run and hope for them to grow or will it be dangerous if the girls eat them? TIA, Raina
sjp
they might be treated with a fungiside or have a fertilizer mixed in as for the growing part if your girls are like mine they'll scoff the lot first chance they get
Chucky Mama
Don't know but they will eat it straight away. I had to fence and area off when I put grass seed down.
Egluntyne
I'm not sure that I'd risk it to be honest, in case it has been treated.

beulah59
I'm going to plant up some seed trays with grass seed ... might cut it a couple of times before giving it to them as turf!
Stevie
Grass seed is normally treated with a harmless substance which encourages wild birds not to eat it when sown so the chances of it doing a much, much larger hen any harm has got to be zero. Slim
My chooks don't touch the grass seed however they love the shoots!
