Plan for building a walk-in chicken run?

Recommended Posts

Hi

Does any one have a plan for building a walk-in chicken run please?

I'm going to buy an Eglu Cube and want a walk in run. I'm sure with the wealth of experience hen keepers on the forum, you'll have come across the pitfalls and must haves in run design....any help advice very welcomed.

Thanks to all forum members - I knew someone would come up with something.

Can't decide whether to buy a flat pack kit or get my hubby to build from scratch - he's an ex-builder so I know he can do it, just needed some guidence from those who have been there and done it!

Going on a keeping chicks beginners course tomorrow so hoping to pick up a few tips on WIR there too

Thanks again all

Donna

I notice you keep ducks as well as chickens - do they 'live' together in the run? If so do they share the same Cube.

When I was little a had 3 Aylesbury ducks and love keeping them - I'd like to have them again but not sure if I'd need a separate enclosure, having not kept hens before.

Just a vote for West Hagley Aviaries if you were going to buy flat pack :)

We're not too far from you (Sutton) and the delivered it, not fully built yet but I like it so far :D

Have fun tomorrow 8)

Nope, all my ducks live in different runs to the chickens as they require different housing and the risk of chickens drowning in the ponds is too high! I do have some very stupid, clumsy hens!
